LETTER FROM NYWICI PRESIDENT ASHLEY MILES
Dear Friends and Industry Colleagues,
In this season of giving, I am writing to wish all of you the happiest of holidays and best wishes for the New Year to come. 2020 has been a year fraught with challenges, however, I am so very proud of all of you and what we as New York Women in Communications achieved this year. We are over 2,700 members strong; our scholarships have enabled 344 young women advance their educational and professional goals, the 2020 Matrix Awards was the most successful in our history, exceeding fundraising and audience goals, and we have assembled the most diverse board in our 90 year history! As we wrap up an outstanding year in commemoration of 90 years of service to you and our industry, NYWICI is poised to continue to thrive into 2021 and beyond.
We are moving forward – fearlessly and boldly — and I am so excited to serve as your President. I have the distinct honor of leading NYWICI into its 91st year of operation with a group of amazing women who serve alongside me on the Board of Directors. And, thanks to our management team at Kellen, led by Executive Director Alexandra Owens and the General Manager Anna McManus, we are gearing up for a transformative 2021. These dynamic women represent the very best of our industry – as do all of you. Like a collection of rare gems, full of experience, life and beauty inside and out, we all bring something uniquely incremental to our NYWICI mission of empowering women in the communications field at every career stage to reach their full potential and navigate the ever-changing landscape of communications.
I want to thank you for your continued support and am also writing to ask that you pass the word on about NYWICI to your colleagues and friends — NYWICI needs you! We are recruiting new members to serve on our various committees — Programming, Development, Communications and Membership and more — and we welcome your expertise, and encourage you to get involved. Together, we are leading the charge and weighing in on issues such as women in the workforce in the time of COVID, coping and addressing inequality and injustice and taking a stand in presenting groundbreaking programs and events geared towards propelling women in communications FORWARD. NYWICI Membership offers an unparalleled experience for growth enrichment, community and to contribute to the industry at large. Join us as we pave the way for women in Communications!
Warm Wishes and Happy Holidays,
New York Women in Communications, Inc.
