The Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPEO) is a regional affiliate of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s premier third- party certification organization for women-owned businesses. The WPEO implements WBENC’s certification standards and procedures to provide full service, third-party certification to women entrepreneurs in the New York area and the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas. WPEO also hosts educational programs to promote business development and provides women entrepreneurs and corporate members with mutual access and advocates for increased contracting opportunities for women in business. www.wpeo.us

Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Communications Assistant’s duties are as follows:

Digital Communications

  • Manage websites for both organizations, including editing and updating content
  • Analyze and report website analytics and metrics
  • Create, curate and manage all published content (images, videos and written) via social media accounts
  • Manage social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Manage monthly blog calendar
  • Develop content, manage and publish the WPO blog
  • Create images and graphics for social media

Sponsor Communications

  • Manage and coordinate online branding for sponsors and partners (update logos and links, etc.)
  • Manage and update editorial calendar

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Pull media lists from contact database
  • Create and distribute e-blasts
  • Manage distribution of press releases via Cision and PR Newswire
  • Communicate and follow up on ProfNet and other media inquiries with members
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis
  • Organize and track media coverage and monitor cumulative reach for quarterly reporting
  • Manage marketing collateral including infographics and press kits
  • Announce new members and Chapter Chairs via press release templates

Advertising

  • Update print and online advertising for WPO/WPEO programs

Research

  • Create, edit and distribute surveys
  • Tabulate results and analyze metrics

Special Events

  • Create layout of all event programs
  • Manage signature programs including the Done Deals challenge
  • Manage registrations for both paid and complimentary events
  • Report registration numbers for all events and programs
  • Organize event photography and distribute images to relevant parties
  • Organize, promote and manage webcasts with keynotes, speakers and sponsors
  • Develop event emails – design, layout, and distribution

Internal Communications

  • Compile, write and distribute monthly newsletter

Other duties as assigned

Skills:

  •    Expertise in Word, Powerpoint and Excel are required
  •    Familiarity with InDesign is a plus
  •    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •    Ability to work independently, efficiently, and can prioritize work flow
  •    Highly organized with good follow through skills

PROFESSIONAL LEVEL: Entry level

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: 4-year degree
