Senior Content Marketing Manager

Lauren TranLauren Tran serves as Co-Vice President of Professional Programming on the board of New York Women in Communications. By day, Lauren is a content marketing manager at Amazon.

At Amazon, Lauren leads global content marketing strategies to drive advertiser adoption and engagement. She has over 10 years of experience across marketing, new business development, public relations, and social media.

Previously, Lauren was a Marketing Communications and Content Manager with Alvarez & Marsal, where she was the lead writer and content manager for the firm’s global marketing team.

Lauren has also held roles as Senior Writer at Rubenstein Public Relations, Account Executive at Hunter Public Relations, and Associate at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery.

Outside of work, Lauren volunteers with iMentor to empower first-generation students to succeed in college.

Why she does what she does…
“Writing has always been the most natural form of communication for me — even before I realized I could turn it into a profession. Now, being able to shape the narrative and voice for a global brand keeps me excited about my job, every single day.”

What drew Lauren to NYWICI…
“For someone who has worked across several communications fields, including marketing, advertising, and public relations, I loved the diverse backgrounds of the women who are part of NYWICI. There are so many opportunities to make connections with someone new and to learn about their unique experiences in communications.”

Why she joined the Professional Programming committee — and why other members should get involved too…
“The first NYWICI event I attended as a new member was to hear Arianna Huffington speak. From that first event, I was hooked—both on the organization and on the awesome programming it puts on—so I knew I wanted to help make those kinds of events happen. Being on a committee is a great way to take your membership a step further and to build strong relationships with some amazing women.”

Her favorite social media platform…
“Instagram. There is no end to the number of travel, home design, and cat accounts that I will follow.”

At the top of Lauren’s trend-watching list is…
“AI-powered content. While I don’t think machines will ever be able to fully replicate what humans can create with the written word, as a content marketer I am intrigued by what we could potentially build together.”

Off the clock, really…
“Traveling is definitely at the top of my list for any of my time off. Visiting Sydney, Positano, and Yangshuo have been my favorite journeys so far.”

Her nirvana…
“In my backyard, reading anything by Jennifer Egan, coffee in hand.”

Did you know…
“I read 28 books in 2018. My goal is 30 for 2019.”

Day to relive…
“Biking along the karst hills in China.”

Words to live by…
“Be a fountain, not a drain.”
