Why Hilarey does what she does…

“I love digital media and journalism. I feel like this industry allows us to inform and help others through stories, videos and more. It’s a very powerful form of communication that can make a difference in the lives of so many people.”

Drawn to NYWICI…

“I was first drawn to NYWICI in 2010 when I attended my first Student Career Conference as a sophomore in college. Now, seven years later, I get to help put on this large event and affect the lives of other young women who remind me of myself. NYWICI is an organization of women helping other women in their careers. It’s real, every woman is approachable and helpful, and I want to give back and help young women just as so many amazing women have helped me.”

My favorite social media platform…

“I love LinkedIn. I think it’s a powerful platform where we can share information to help others in their careers, ask important questions and find answers, and really connect with others who have similar experiences. We can be mentees and mentors on LinkedIn every day.”

Marketing/Media/Content/Video/Social’s biggest challenge…

“Content in all forms is everywhere. It can be difficult to stay relevant, be ahead of trends, or find ways to differentiate ourselves from others in the space. We need to be more innovative and creative than ever before.”

At the top of my trend watching list is…

“Email newsletters. They’ve been around for a while, but I feel like we are reading them more now than ever before. I read at least five every day. It will be interesting to see how they evolve even more and how outlets get creative with them.”

Off the clock, really…

“I love going to concerts, the beach and staying active with fun activities — recently I’ve tried a ropes course, TopGolf and a ‘90s hip hop dance class.”

My nirvana…

“Live concerts. Seeing my favorite band play on stage, 50 feet away, is a religious experience for me. I can’t get enough!”

Did you know…

“I grew up playing a ton of sports, from flag football to soccer to softball to track. In high school, I set a school record in the half-mile race.”

Day to relive…

“The day I had coffee with author and past Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Kate White (all thanks to NYWICI’s Student Career Conference — those raffles are amazing)!”

Words to live by…

“‘We can’t become what we need to be by remaining who we are,’ which is a quote from Oprah.”
