CHAMPIONS OF CHANGE IN THE COMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY CELEBRATED AT NYWICI’S 53rd ANNUAL MATRIX AWARDS

 

NEW YORK, NY (September 25, 2023)— Last Wednesday, New York Women in Communications (NYWICI), honored the 2023 Matrix Awards recipients at a reception and awards ceremony at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan. The sold-out event, which marked the 53rd year of the Matrix Awards, drew more than 600 guests to celebrate women changing the world through their work in communications. 

The evening’s Emcee, Nikki Glaser, host of The CW’s new series FBOY ISLAND and one of the funniest female voices in comedy today brought that to the evening where she kept the audience laughing and wanting more. 

The 2023 honorees joined a remarkable group of past Matrix Award winners, and were recognized for their impact and influence as leaders in the communications professions by a crowd of industry notables including Linda Boff, Chief Marketing Officer at GE; Susan Credle, Global Chief Creative Officer at FCB Global; Chuck Hajj, U.S. President at Group SJR at WPP; Abbey Klaassen, President at Dentsu Creative; Philippe Krakowsky, CEO at Interpublic Group; and Sara Sidner, CNN Anchor.  

“It was a night filled with joy as we celebrated our industry’s best and championed the next generation of female leaders,” said Georgia Galanoudis, President of NYWICI and Director of Marketing and Communications for Idealist.org.  “This year’s Matrix honorees inspired us, and our scholarship recipients showed us the future is bright. Together we can navigate whatever lies ahead in this ever-shifting landscape.”

The 2023 NYWICI Matrix Honorees and Presenters included:

  • Christine Elliott, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Moody’s presented by Robert Fauber, President and CEO, Moody’s Corporation
  • Moira Forbes, Executive Vice President, Forbes and Publisher, ForbesWomen presented by Steve Forbes, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, Forbes
  • Maureen J. Reidy, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Paley Center for Media presented by Frank A. Bennack, Jr., Executive Vice Chairman & Former CEO, Hearst
  • Donna Speciale, President of Advertising Sales and Marketing, TelevisaUnivision presented by Steven Wolfe Pereira, Chief Business Officer, 3Pas Studios
  • Clarissa Ward, Chief International Correspondent, CNN presented by Victoria Thompson, Executive Producer of Multi-Platform Projects,t ABC News Studios

NYWICI’S 2023 college scholarship recipients were also recognized at the event. Proceeds from the Matrix Awards go towards funding scholarships and educational programs to support young women at every stage of their academic and professional pursuits.
