Since 1971, the Matrix Awards have been presented by NYWICI—the city’s largest organization of professional women in the communications industry. The Awards have honored and celebrated female empowerment and achievement in the field of communications and the arts since its first honoree, Gloria Steinem. Matrix honorees are women making a difference, building community, and inspiring the next generation of female leaders in their field. Recent honorees include remarkable women ranging from Hoda Kotb, Gwen Stefani, and Halle Berry to Judy Woodruff, Clarissa Ward, Esi Eggleston Bracey, and Norah O’Donnell, to name just a few.

“As New York Women in Communications marks its 95th year, we are proud to spotlight these seven incredible leaders who are living examples of this year’s ‘Rule Breakers’ theme,” said Laura Brusca, President of NYWICI and Chief Communications Officer, Forbes. “These women have never backed down from a challenge and have built their careers according to their own terms, without sacrificing their values and beliefs. Their accomplishments deserve to be celebrated and we are honored to be able to do so at the 2024 Matrix Awards.”

In addition to the Matrix honorees, NYWICI’s 2024 college scholarship recipients will also be honored at the event. To date, NYWICI has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to support young women and their academic and professional pursuits.
