Pivoting and Reinvention with Lesley Jane Seymour

From a writer for Women’s Wear Daily, to a beauty editor for Glamour, to holding significant leadership roles as the Editor-In-Chief of Marie Claire and More, Lesley Jane Seymour has run the gamut of magazine editorial. Now as CEO of CoveyClub, she’s helping women embrace reinvention and break out of self-imposed boundaries.

On NYWICI’s WomenHeard podcast, she candidly discusses her journey of pivoting between different roles, while successfully balancing external hobbies and family responsibilities. Here’s a glimpse of what she said:

REINVENTING YOURSELF

The idea of “starting over” has never seemed easy. Women constantly go through different seasons of life, whether that’s entering motherhood or exploring new career paths. Lesley suggests “always having a reinvention plan in your back pocket” – that way, you’re able to have a cushion when life throws you obstacles.

Reinvention is a recurring topic that Lesley passionately discusses in her empowering podcast, “Reinvent Yourself with Lesley Jane Seymour“. She encourages self-discovery, growth, and renewal at any age.

FIXED MINDSET VS. OPEN MINDSET

A fixed mindset is a barrier that’s detrimental to one’s ability to learn from mistakes. Lesley encourages every woman to lead life with an open mindset and explore every opportunity to grow. “Through learning, connecting, asking questions and sometimes failing, that’s how you learn and that’s how you move forward,” says Lesley.

COVEYCLUB LENDING A HAND

CoveyClub works as a vibrant center for women in midlife who want to make connections. The idea to build this community was heavily influenced by women who wanted to know what Lesley’s next move was after More Magazine. “CoveyClub holds a space for you until you figure out what’s next,” says Lesley.

Thanks to Lesley Jane Seymour for sharing her words of wisdom. If you want to hear Lesley’s full interview and catch up on all the episodes of NYWICI’s WomenHeard podcast, you can find them available here.
