A Seat in the Room—or One You Create

Dear NYWICI Community,

As we move into April and enter the final stretch leading up to the 56th Annual Matrix Awards on May 19th, I wanted to take a moment to reach out personally.

This year’s Matrix Awards is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic and influential gatherings we’ve ever convened—bringing together leaders from across media, marketing, and communications, including senior voices from Disney, Publicis Groupe, Dentsu, TikTok, and beyond.

But what matters most to me isn’t just who is on the stage—it’s who gets to be in the room.

Because that’s where the real impact happens.

Where connections are made.

Where mentorship begins.

And where a single conversation can change the trajectory of a career.

Throughout my own journey, I’ve experienced firsthand how one introduction, one opportunity, or one moment of support can create a ripple effect that extends far beyond what we can see at the time.

That idea is at the heart of this year’s theme—The Butterfly Effect.

It’s a reminder that even the smallest actions can create extraordinary impact. And it’s also a call to action for all of us—especially in a community like ours—to be intentional about how we show up for one another.

So this month, I’m asking you to do one of two things.

Take a seat in the room.

Join us on May 19th at the Ziegfeld Ballroom and be part of an evening that brings together the people shaping our industry—and the next generation rising behind them.

Or create a seat for someone else.

Through our Rising Star and scholarship initiatives, you have the opportunity to give a young woman access to a room that could change everything—her network, her confidence, and her future.

Some of the most meaningful seats in the room this year may be the ones you never sit in.

That is the Butterfly Effect in action.

We are in the final weeks of planning, and every decision we make—and every commitment we secure—directly impacts what we can deliver, not just on May 19th, but for the future of NYWICI and the women we support.

If you’ve been considering attending, I encourage you to secure your place now.

If attending isn’t possible, I hope you’ll consider paying it forward.

Either way, your participation matters. And your impact will be felt far beyond a single evening.

Thank you for being part of this extraordinary community—and for helping us create ripple effects that will continue for years to come.

With gratitude,
Beth Feldman
