Planting Seeds for What’s Next

Summer has always felt like a season of possibility.

For those blessed with a green thumb, it’s a time spent tending gardens—planting herbs, vegetables, and flowers with the confidence that, given time and care, something beautiful will grow.

I’ll admit, I’ve never been much of a gardener.

But I do believe in planting seeds.

Just not in the ground.

I plant them in relationships.

Summer offers something many other seasons don’t: a little more breathing room. It’s the perfect time to reconnect with someone you’ve admired, invite a colleague for coffee, schedule that lunch you’ve been meaning to arrange, take a walk with a mentor, or finally reach out to someone whose work inspires you.

Some of those conversations may simply brighten your day. Others may spark a new friendship, a career opportunity, a collaboration, or an idea you never saw coming.

The important thing is to plant the seed.

And then, just as importantly, nurture it.

The strongest professional relationships aren’t built in a single meeting—they grow over time through curiosity, generosity, authenticity, and staying connected. Just like any thriving garden, meaningful connections flourish when they’re cultivated with intention.

This summer, we’ll be gathering in smaller, more intimate settings to celebrate our Matrix Award honorees and scholarship program—creating opportunities for genuine conversation and connection beyond the ballroom.
