Director, Ad Product Marketing, Dotdash Meredith

Erica Curtin (she/her) has been at Dotdash Meredith for 8 years. She spends her days as a Director of Ad Product Marketing, chiefly responsible for enabling new advertising opportunities for our clients on behalf of our brands. She is also the Co-Chair of the Women’s Council ERG at DDM. When she’s not working or bettering the lives of the women at DDM, she’s trying out a new recipe, binging Love Island, or spending far too long researching and planning her next trip (5 continents and counting!)

What inspired you to join NYWICI?

As a woman and DE&I advocate at DDM, NYWICI’s mission aligns with mine: elevating the potential of women. Although marketing and communications tends to be a female-dominated field, the top is still predominantly male. It’s important to have organizations like NYWICI to bring together female leaders to shape the future of the industry, and I’m honored to be a part of it.

What piece of career advice do you live by?

A boss once told me ahead of a presentation, “No one in the room knows what you’re talking about better than you do.” I strive to make that statement true for every presentation I give, or before every table I have a seat at. It boils down to knowing your stuff, and being confident about it.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know I am a first generation American – my mother was born in Portugal and I was raised very culturally Portuguese. I am very proud of my heritage and the strong women who raised me!

What is the best thing you’ve watched/listened to/read lately?

Bridgerton. Not only do I love the classical adaptations of modern music, but Shonda Rhimes does such an amazing job at making diversity and equity a reality for her characters, despite the era they’re depicting.

What 5 people living or dead would you invite to dinner?

Lady Gaga, Shonda Rhimes, Michelle Obama, Princess Diana, and Chelsea Handler.
