SPOTLIGHT: ERIN BOHAN
Senior Manager, Business Development, Spotify
Erin is currently a Senior Manager on the Partnerships Business Development team at Spotify, where she also serves as the Global Communications Lead for the Women@Spotify Employee Resource Group. In her free time, Erin likes to hang with her friends & 3-year-old husky in Brooklyn, play the piano and catch as many live shows as possible.
What inspired you to join NYWICI?
During Covid, I strived for inspiration & connection. As someone who admires impressive women who both lead and empower, NYWICI seemed like an amazing community to learn from a wide array of professionals & expand my network. After spending 7 years in advertising, I recently made a career change into Business Development, and am quite grateful for the advice I’ve gained from various NYWICI sessions, which is proving invaluable through all stages of my career & personal passion positions.
What piece of career advice do you live by?
Never let a title or industry define you! A mentor once told me it is important to be “heads up” in business, and to remain curious about everything, not only in front of you, but around you, as well. I keep curiosity at the top of my priority list and let this drive me to be more aware & more well-rounded as I grow in my career.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I started playing the piano this past year (and for the first time ever)! I’ve always been extremely “into” music, but always felt it was too late to become a musician myself. I finally got the courage to find a local teacher in Brooklyn, and just finished my first full Suzuki Piano school book. It’s the most interesting and fulfilling hobby I’ve ever pursued.
