SPOTLIGHT: SARAH LYNCH

Sarah Lynch is an editorial fellow at Mansueto Ventures, writing for both Fast Company and Inc. She graduated from Marist College in 2021, and she’s a proud two-time NYWICI scholarship winner.

What inspired you to join NYWICI?

When I was a senior in high school, I found myself scrolling through countless scholarship websites in a desperate attempt to find more money for college. NYWICI seemed like a dream. Not only did it offer scholarships, but also a network of women with the same passion for this field. I couldn’t believe that I kept making it to each round, and I regard it as one of the best decisions I ever made.

What piece of career advice do you live by?

I really love this Salvador Dali quote that says inspiration finds you working. I’ve found that entirely true in my life. Anytime I’ve felt myself get stuck, if I pick up a project or spend some dedicated time with a blank page and creativity tends to flow. Even if the work you’re doing isn’t your be-all and end-all, keep working. Inspiration will find you!

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I sang in my college choral group. I loved that time and those people, and will forever be sad that COVID took live music away for us for so long. I’m thrilled to see it return!

What’s the best thing you’ve watched/ listened to/ or read recently?

I’m watching “The Last of Us” on HBO (like…everyone!). It has surprised me each episode, and Pedro Pascal is phenomenal.

What 5 people living, or dead would you invite for dinner?

Nora Ephron, Stanley Tucci, Emma Stone, Grace Kelly, and my sister.
