Mary Kate McGrath is the Chief Operating Officer at BDG. She joined after helping to facilitate BDG’s acquisition of Some Spider Studios, the holding company behind the largest parenting media brands Scary Mommy, The Dad, and Fatherly. Mary Kate had been the Chief Operating Officer at Some Spider.
She has spent her career scaling profitable, consumer-facing brands. Previously, she was Chief Content Officer of Gallery Media Group, where she helped build and sell women’s lifestyle brand PureWow to Gary Vaynerchuk and Stephen Ross. She founded Gallery’s men’s lifestyle brand, ONE37pm, as well as 30+ brands on Instagram and TikTok. She started the Gallery Podcast Co, launching popular shows including Long Story Short with Bobbi Brown, Mom Brain with Daphne Oz and Hilaria Baldwin, and The CMO Podcast.
Mary Kate began her career in magazines and spent a decade at InStyle, Real Simple, Travel & Leisure and Food Network Magazine. She has appeared as a lifestyle expert on national news programs, including TODAY and Good Morning America. In 2018, she became a board member of “Female Founders in Tech,” a program that recognizes and supports female-led startups while providing innovative solutions to corporations seeking innovation. She is also a mentor for the “92Y Women inPower” program.
She lives with her husband, Alex, their two sons, Jackson and Charlie, and new puppy, Ruby, in the suburbs outside Manhattan.
